Dr Karen Kinloch

About Me

I am a research and evaluation consultant with over 20 years’ experience working across health, education, charity and public sectors. I specialise in the full research cycle, from design and data collection to analysis, reporting and implementation.

My Expertise in Research & Evaluation

Over two decades, I have led implementation and outcome evaluations of specialist health services and interventions. I work closely with funders, commissioners, practitioners and families to generate robust evidence that informs best practice and improves service delivery.

My experience includes ethically driven research on sensitive topics such as:

  • mental health
  • parenting and family support
  • end‑of‑life care
  • infertility and reproductive health

I am qualified in safeguarding, NHS Good Clinical Practice, and hold an enhanced DBS, ensuring safe, ethical and compliant research practice with a successful track record of ethics applications.

Academic Background

My career began with an ESRC‑funded PhD in Linguistics at Lancaster University, specialising in health communication. This foundation strengthened my passion for understanding people’s experiences and using data to drive meaningful change.

I remain fascinated by people’s stories and the insights that emerge when qualitative and quantitative data are brought together with care and curiosity.

Sectors I’ve Worked In

I have delivered research and evaluation for a wide range of organisations, including:

  • NHS Trusts
  • Integrated Care Boards
  • Local Authorities
  • Family Hubs
  • NSPCC
  • National Lottery‑funded programmes
  • Higher Education institutions
  • Charity and voluntary sector organisations

This breadth of experience allows me to adapt to different contexts, stakeholders and project needs while maintaining a consistent standard of quality and integrity.
